awards for the libraries and their promoters

This year, in order to go on promoting the professional capacity of the librarians and the image of the library in the contemporary society, Bibliocom wants to launch a new initiative. It aims to catch the attention of different subjects from the world of the management of cultural heritage and to incite the librarians to be promoters of their own library and its functions in the community. The idea of creating these awards, as an event associated to Bibliocom from the 2002 edition, would not be original in other countries. In Italy, indeed, it could be an useful instruments for a deeper dialogue with the context of the relations between library and Italian society. These awards won't be for a celebration or a classification but they aim to point out "the best performances" in particular sectors of the libraries activities, showing work tracks and examples to follow, on the halfway between seriousness and fun.

For the current year, the prizes will be divided into four sections and they will awarded by a jury composed by representatives of the libraries and of the world of culture.


In the awards ceremony that will take place during the AIB meeting at Bibliocom 2002, a plate of honour and the prizes of the sponsors will be given to the winners.

THE BIBLIOCOM 2002 AWARDS are the following:

1 - BIBLIOTECHE IN VETRINA @lla tua biblioteca (Libraries on show @ your library)

a prize to the Italian organization, both public and private, that opened the best library in the period 1990-2000. For this section the project of the library and a photographic documentation are required.

2 - BIBLIO & TECNOLOGIA @lla tua biblioteca (Biblio & technology @ your library)

a prize to the Italian library (or libraries) that realised or is (are) going to realise the best technological innovations in the context of customer care and system service. For this section a report and a documentation on the created services are required.

3 - BIBLIO & EDUCAZIONE @lla tua biblioteca (Biblio & education @ your library)

a prize to the Italian library (or libraries) that realised the best services for learning in school or university. For this section a report and a documentation on the created services are required.

4 - NESSUNO ESCLUSO @lla tua biblioteca (No one out @ your library)

a prize to the Italian library (or libraries) that realised the best services to disadvantaged users. For this section a report and a documentation on the created services are required.
