This work derives from a professional experience developed in an academic environment. It intends to be a quick reference handbook, addressed to information specialists, librarians, documentalists and end users, to serve as a pathfinder among the different information sources. The first chapter (Information: circulation and retrieval, by Lucia Maffei) outlines the changes occurred during the last years in the ways in which information circulates in the academic field. The second and third chapters (Legal databases, by Gabriele Gatti and Economics databases by Elisabetta Di Benedetto) consist of a critical review and evalution of many electronic information sources in the fields of law and economics. Online and CD-Roma databases are reviewed, and directions are given also about the main Internet information resources.
