The survey was carried out in the school year 1995-96 and promoted by the Provincial Department of Education of Novara ("Assessorato all'Istruzione della Provincia di Novara") in cooperation with the Local Education Office of Novara ("Provveditorato agli Studi di Novara").

Results of the survey carried out in the school year 1995-96 in the 23 libraries of secondary schools of Novara and its province. The following items are examined: purposes and tasks, allocation of space, fornitures and facilities, resources, management and organization, personnel, library and information services and their educational use, relationships with local libraries. Besides a whole analysis of the local situation, detailed schedules for each school are included in order to plan developing actions.
