This presentation will describe the activities taking place at a national level in the UK, under the auspices of the Joint Information Systems Committee, to support the provision of electronic resources for the higher (and further) education communities. It will include a brief outline of the higher and further education context in the UK, and the role of the Joint Information Systems Committee. The paper will describe the evolution of the Distributed National Electronic Resource, focusing particularly on issues related to digital information resources.
